Into Every Life

You know the saying, right? Into every life a little rain must fall. Well, it’s a grey day here in the usually sunny Okanagan and it’s raining. It’s not the kind of rain those of you in the Fraser Valley get; this is a gentle rain. To be honest, the only reason I know it’s raining is by looking at the puddles; I can see the ripples of the rain drops hitting the water. It’s a welcome rain; it’s been very dry here. So dry, in fact, that many are comparing this spring to the spring of 2003, a very notorious year here in Kelowna (the year of the fires). Trust me, we do not want a repeat performance.

Speaking of performance, yesterday, Kristen, the kids, and I were treated to a performance of Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai. It was John’s Mother’s Day gift to the two of us. John drove us to Penticton (about an hour from here) and he explored the town while we enjoyed the performance. And we did! It was amazing!

The kids were absolutely enthralled with the entire show and we were all swept up in the music, the colours, the agility, the fun. Afterwards, we went for dinner, stopping at the Blind Angler in Summerland, one of our favourite places to eat. We don’t go often but when we do, we always enjoy it. Along with good food, the ladies who own and run it treat you like family, right down to telling Trinity she couldn’t leave until her plate was empty (we took the leftovers home).

All in all, it was a wonderful, memorable day.

  1. Very good! Glad you had such a lovely time. At least right now, it’s not too hot quite yet. 🙂
